It advised readers to hang around where single women go. Farmers markets, organic food shops and …….wine tastings were the best places to find the love of your life. So you have no excuse to be single if you’re in the wine industry.

Dale Gatcum: “The Wine Guys Wine Guide” to be released this December

This December, “The Wine Guys Wine Guide” will be released, the first of 4 books by Dale Gatcum. It’s a 30 page wine guide for people who either know nothing about wine or know a little and would like to know more. Dale has a ‘hands on’, ‘down-to-earth’ style and ‘The Wine Guys Wine Guide’ sets out to demystify wine and make it accessible to everyone.

A three further books in the series will follow, they include; The Wine Guys Guide to Organic Wines, (Release date March 09), The Wine Guys Guide to New World Wines and the Wine Guys Guide to Old World Wines, (both to be released late 09).

3ª WINE PLEASURES MISIÓN COMERCIAL INVERSA A ESPAÑA PARA IMPORTADORES DE VINO

18 Importdores participarán en la 3ª Wine Pleasures Misión Comercial a España para importadores de vino que tendrá lugar del 15 al 22 de marzo de 2009 en Sitges (Barcelona) España.

Esta será la 3ª edición de esta misión inversa para importadores de vino, de celebración anual, que desde su primera edición en 2006 está dirigida exclusivamente a un público profesional: agentes comerciales, importadores y distribuidores.

Los Workshops Buyer meets Spanish Cellar y el International Organic Workshop se han convertido en unos eventos estratégicos y de participación necesaria  del sector del vino, no sólo para identificar nichos de mercado y aprovechar las oportunidades de negocio, sino también para poder establecer contactos comerciales con bodegas de muy variada procedencia geográfica.

Wine Pleasures Reverse Trade Mission to Spain for Wine Importers, Distributors, Retailers, & the On-trade

From 15th to 22nd March 2009, a small group of wine buyers will be participating in the 3rd edition of the Wine Pleasures Reverse Trade Mission to Spain which includes participation in two workshops: Buyer meets Spanish Cellar and the International Organic Workshop followed by visits to the appellations of Penedès, Cava, Priorat, Montsant, Terra Alta & Conca de Barberà.

 

The trade mission is organised by Wine Pleasures and will be based in the Mediterranean Sea resort of Sitges just 20 mins from Barcelona International Airport. famtrip6

The delegate’s work agenda includes workshop meetings, visits to bodegas, as well as tastings, wine and traditional food matching & seminars led by well – known wine authorities.

This type of marketing activity has already proved its worth in the past two editions for both buyers and bodegas as an efficient means of establishing business relationships in a one-stop, low cost event.

This year, 15 companies will participate in the Reverse Trade Mission from the following countries:  Bulgaria, China, Canada, Ireland, Malaysia, Singapore, UK, USA (CA, CO, CT,FL, MN, NY) & Mexico.

Kristall Kellerei, Omaruru (Namibia) enrols for the Wine Pleasures Wine Tourism Workshop

Kristall Kellerei is a small wine making business in Namibia. The important varieties are Colombard and Ruby Cabernet. They claim to make a good Nappa (grappa), brandy, and Prickly-Pear Schnaps.keller

Visitors to Namibia are surprised to find vineyards in our arid country. There are three vineyards in Namibia witha total acreage not exceeding 13ha! As all vineyards are situated in totally different parts of the country, wine lovers need to travel across Namibia to visit the different wine farms. Visitors can either stay on the estate or on lodges in the vicinity of the wine estate. Namibian wines are not exported yet and besides a Colombard and a Ruby Cabernet, Namibian wine makers produce Shiraz and Shiraz/Merlot blend.

Wine Pleasures Wine Tourism Workshop – any Spanish Winery open for visits?

banner_72890_enThings are not looking too bright for the Tour Operators and Travel Agents travelling especially to Sitges (Barcelona, Spain) to meet, above all wineries, hotels and incoming agents in the Wine Pleasures Wine Tourism Workshop. TO DATE ONLY ONE WINERY IN ALL OF SPAIN APPEARS TO BE INTERESTED IN EXPLOTING THE RELATIVELY NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY OF WINE TOURISM. Hotels, (such as Hotels Priorat and Peralada Hotel and Golf), on the other hand are clearly more than willing to invest in order to gain a greater market share of the wine tourism market. Hopefully, wineries (for the sake of the agents attending!!) will wake up soon!.
