Wine Pleasures Workshop: Buyer meets Spanish Cellar

celler-vinyes-dels-aspres1Vinyes dels Aspres vineyards and wine cellar sit in the municipality of Cantallops, the northernmost inland village in the Alt Empordà region, in the shelter of the Albera mountain range, a region of rocky land with sandy soil and gentle slopes of the Mediterranean Pyrenees.

This particularly dry, windy and rugged region is home to our vineyards, which have been the property of our family for many generations.

In the late 90’s, we decided to take up the work of our grandparents, fitting out and restoring the wine cellar while at the same time adapting it to the demands of present-day wine production.

We only cultivate and harvest our own grapes, and have a complete production cycle from the vineyard to the glass. These are 30 hectares of vineyards registered under the local Empordà appellation. Most of the grapes are either of the traditional Garnatxa variety (known as the Lledoner in the Empordà) in its white, red and black variants, or the Carinyena/Samsó variety, originating historically from this region. In addition to the indigenous varieties, we also have modern plantations of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot, which complement to a lesser degree the personality of our wines.

We specialize in the production of 4 crianza wines (wines that have been aged for a minimum of two years, first in wood or stainless steel tanks, and then in the bottle) and 3 sweet wines, without alcohol addition, complete the collection.

Please feel free to contact Vinyes dels Aspres through their web site or meet them in person at the Wine Pleasures Workshop: Buyer meets Spanish Cellar.
