Here is a winery that buyers will be certainly making an appointment to meet at the Wine Plesures Workshop Buyer meets Spanish Cellar. The reason? Along with several other participating wineries it does not yet export its wines!

montauWe are the descendants of the landowning Sadurní family, who have been growing wine since the Fifteenth Century, as shown by our 1530 family tree.

The Sadurní family boasts one of the finest farms in the village of Begues, in a haven of peace and tranquility. Can Sadurní is located 15 miles away from Barcelona and right on the side of the Montau mountain. It is a typical Catalan Fifteenth-Century country house, perfectly renovated and always owned by the Sadurní family, generation after generation.

It is a spot surrounded by nature, just by the mountain our wines are named after, Mount Montau.

Records of wine growing in the farm go back to the 15th Century. Besides, grape seeds have recently been found in a prehistoric cave dating from 1500 BC, following the fieldwork of archaeologists lead by the University de Barcelona. So it would be fair to say that the Sadurní family was somehow destined to produce traditional high-quality wine and cava.

The farm was first used as a vineyard and bulk production winery, while 22 years ago our wines and cavas began to be marketed under the Montau de Sadurní name.

We produce quality, homegrown wine and cava using traditional methods. We look after our vineyards and monitor each step of the process, from harvesting through to labeling. We pick our grapes at the right time, and make our wine and cava as we know best, gently and accurately. We strive to produce fine wines with a special feel.de Sadurní cultivate chardonnay, chenin blanc, xarel·lo and parellada for white wines and cavas, and cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah, for the red ones. All them bottled with the modern brand “Arrels Montau de Sadurní”.

The vineyards are situated at 400m height, and on a calcareous ground, typical of the Massís del Garraf area, that give to our wines the characteristics of this so particular terroir.

All our wines can all be sampled at Celler d’en Sadurní, the restaurant which is found within the farm itself.

It will soon be a year since Montau de Sadurní cellar sought the collaboration of world-renowned sculptor, Lorenzo Quinn. For the Lorenzo Quinn range, we have produced a special blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our aim is to please the palates of those who wish to taste and enjoy truly special wines and cavas of an exclusive brand.

Want to be the first to import the Montau de Sadurni wines in to your country then hurry and enrol for the Wine Pleasures Workshop: Buyer meets Spanish Cellar!
