Wine Pleasures is pleased to announce dates for the 2012 Workshop for wine importers to meet with boutique wine producers. Two events same place same dates: Buyer meets Iberian Cellar & Buyer meets Organic Cellar

Did You Know That…

  • The land of fly droppings, dog strangler and the little red bastard are all names of Portuguese grape varieties?
  • Spain has the world’s largest area under vine?
  • Most Portuguese wine is made from grape varieties native to Portugal?
  • Of the 12 mst commonly grown grape varieties in the world, 6 are of Spanish origen: Airén, Garnacha, Cariñena, Monastrell, Bobal and Tempranillo?
  • Portugal has more than 250 indigenous grapes – of which the red varietal, Touriga Nacional is most widely recognised?
  • Spain has been producing sparkling wines for over 100 years using the traditional method?

The Event

The Wine Pleasures Workshop Buyer meets Iberian Cellar takes place over two and a half days from Monday 27h to Wednesday 29th February 2012 where Hosted Buyers hold pre-scheduled meetings and tastings with small to medium sized boutique Portuguese and Spanish Wineries not normally present in the larger international trade fairs.

19.00 – 20.30 Wine tasting & time for scheduling extra appointments

09.00 – 10.00 Workshop opens – time for tasting and/or appointments
10.00 – 13.00 One to one meetings with wineries
13.00 – 15.00 Lunch
15.00 – 15.30 Free time
15.30 – 18.30 One to one meetings with wineries
21.00 Dinner and wine matching in the hotel

14.00 – 15.30 Lunch & end of workshop
15.45 – Transfer to Barcelona Airport. Arriving at 16.30
