WINE PLEASURES WORKSHOP

BUYER MEETS OLD WORLD CELLAR

(1st Edition)

Shanghai 10 - 12 November 2009

The Event

Over the past five years Wine Pleasures has organised 10 Workshops for small to medium sized importers & distributors to meet with small boutique wineries from France, Italy and Spain.

During this time there has been great interest from Asian buyers to attend the workshop events. Many, over ther years have suggested we organise a Wine Pleasures Workshop in an Asian country as for many buyers a trip to Europe is costly both in terms of time and money. Likewise many wineries have also suggested that Wine Pleasures should organise a workshop event in Asia.

Given this situation, Wine Pleasures has created an annual workshop event bringing together wine importers and distributors and old world wine producers, providing a cost and time effective opportunity to discuss business face to face.

At the workshop, international wine buyers hold pre -scheduled business meetings and tastings with old world wineries wineries of potential interest. These meetings have the dual objectives of discovering and selecting new limited production wines and of cultivating new professional relationships.

Both buyers and cellars are carefully selected by Wine Pleasures in order to ensure that both parties will find what they are looking for.

The Wine Pleasures Workshop Buyer meets Old World Cellar gives buyers the opportunity to discover new wine suppliers not normally present in the large trade fairs, meet the winemaker in a highly personalised setting, taste the latest vintages, discuss imports, prices and timescales, discover new products and attractive labelling and packaging, and appreciate the excellence in quality - price. All this in a cost-effective, one stop opportunity to do so by meeting face to face in China with a wide range of quality wine makers concentrated in one convenient and enchanting venue for just two and a half days.

The Venue

The Wine Pleasures Workshop Buyer meets Old World Cellar will take place in the Royalton Hotel in Shanghai. This hotel affords a perfect setting for the Wine Pleasures Workshop event. The Royalton Hotel is located in the heart of the west district of Shanghai, close to business and retail centers and just five minutes walk to three metro lines and only 5 stops to the Bund. The hotel is easily accessible from the Inner Ring Road, Zhongshan W. Rd and the Yan An Highway.

How the the Appointment System Works

Each participating winery will have exclusive use of a meeting table where the scheduled appointments with buyers take place. The tried and tested appointment system offers buyers direct and total control over the types of wineries - type of wine, price range and designation of origen - they arrange to meet during the two days:

1) Leading up to the workshop

Invited Buyers are supplied with details and profiles of participating wineries. This gives the buyer ample time to correspond with the winery directly and to evaluate if the wines would be of potential interest to the buyer's target market. Buyers should pre-schedule a minimum of 12 appointments prior to the workshop taking place.

2) During the workshop

On both mornings of the event, additional appointments may be scheduled through personal contacts between buyers and wineries.

Further contacts between buyers and wineries are also possible during lunch and breaks as well as in the evening.

Important: buyers registering an accompanying person from the same organisation are able to schedule parallel appointments simultaneously throughout the event, thereby doubling the effectiveness of their participation.
