Vertical Tasting - only 12 vintages!

The 2011 International Wine Tourism Conference & Workshop will take place from 30th January to 6th February on the banks of the Douro River in the Pousado do Porto, Palacio do Freixo in Porto, Portugal. Bloggers, media and social media “geeks” are invited to attend and actively participate in the 8 day/7 nights Bloggers & Press Fam Trip.

The Wine Tourism Conference promises to be every bit as exciting as the 2010 conference. We have a number of novel attractions to entice you and plan to provide you with a Portuguese flavour and a memorable experience.

A limited number of bloggers and media will be able to participate in an extended Fam Blogger Trip which consists of four parts:

Expect abundant local cuisine

1. Pre-Conference Bloggers day on Sunday 30th January
2. From 31st January to 2 February a 3 – Day Wine Tourism Conference packed with over 40 talks, workshops, round tables, plenary sessions and activities. The conference already boasts an international line up of world-class plenary speakers; Jochen Erler (Journalist & Wine Consultant from Germany), Charles Metcalfe (Wine critic and co-author of The Wine & Food Lover’s Guide to Portugal), & Roie Edery (Celebrity Wine Review TV from LA) together with Hollywood actress and wine presenter Charity Winters .  As well as all this, the event offers a state of the art exhibition of wine tourism related products, as well as a rich “After Conference” Social Programme with a distinctly Port flavour. This includes wine tastings, winery visits, cultural visits, wine and food matching and much much more.
3. One-day Wine Tourism Workshop to meet International Wine Tourism Providers and Travel Agents on the 3rd of Feb and
4. From 4th to 6th February a Post Conference Tour Programme to one – 3 different programmes to choose from!

Blogger & Press Accreditation

There are more than 250 different grape varieties in Portugal

We have sponsorship for just 12 places for bloggers and press.

The pre-requisites for accreditation are as follows:

  1. Bloggers must run an active blog and be related to any or all of the following: wine, food and travel
  2. Press must write for relevant media ie wine, food and travel related.
  3. Social media specialist must actively work with blogs and social media tools and preferably their line of work is in any or all of the following: wine, food or travel.
  4. All participants must be prepared to deliver a talk in the conference and should submit a Speaker Proposal Form

There is a Registration fee of 150 Euros and this will entitle you to the follow without cost:

7 nights accommodation
Meals for the duration of the trip

Free WIFI access to blog, tweet and so on (you should bring your own laptop)

    1. General

    By completing and submitting the blogger/media application form, you understand that your registration must be confirmed, in writing by Wine Pleasures, before participation is allowed.

    2. Liability and insurance

    Wine Pleasures or the hosting function hotel are not liable for any claim of theft, damage of property, or injury sustained while participation takes place.

    In the event of cancellation of the programme, or any part thereof, due to civil discord, terrorism, military action or natural events occurring without fault on the part of Wine Pleasures, there shall be no refund of fees paid, travel costs, nor expenses incurred.

    The participant is responsible for all travel arrangements and costs incurred to and from the event. It is the participant?s responsibility to secure and pay any fees in relation to a visa, if appropriate for Portugal.

    3. Participation

    The participant understands that his/her presence is required at all official Wine Pleasures functions as indicated in the programme. The participant shall not take part in non-Wine Pleasures functions which would preclude his/her attendance at all published and scheduled official Wine Pleasures activities. The participant shall also not participate in familiarization trips sponsored and supported by companies and organisations not participating in the Wine Pleasures event.

    No family members, friends or business partners of the participant who are not officially registered shall be admitted to the any part of the event

    The participant understands that all participant arrangements and/or changes must be submitted in writing and confirmed by Wine Pleasures.

    The participant agrees not to use the event for his/her own commercial purposes by trying to sell or offer services or products (e.g. advertisements in their publications or website, tours, fairs, or other products and services such as insurance, telephone cards etc.).

    The participant agrees to participate in the whole 8 day programme. If a significant number of days are missed, the participant will be fully and solely responsible for all hotel accommodation charges.

    Participants wishing to cancel their attendance must do so in writing a minimum of two weeks prior to the press trip otherwise the participant will be liable to cover hotel and other expenses if incurred.

    Enrollment fees once paid are non refundable and non transferable.

    4. Hotel accommodation

    Wine Pleasures will accommodate participants at the venue hotels for a maximum of 8 nights (January 29 to 6 February) and will sponsor meals throughout the event as listed in the event programme. Any miscellaneous charges (extra night(s), room service, tours, telephone calls, business centre services, etc.) incurred during the participant’s stay will be at his/her own expense.

    5. Media waiver

    I give permission to Wine Pleasures to use photographs or video footage of me, taken at the Fam Trip, for Wine Pleasures promotional purposes only.

    6. Concluding provision

    Wine Pleasures shall have full power to interpret and amend the above mentioned terms & conditions which in its discretion shall be in the best interest of the event. The participant understands that the information contained in the Fam Trip material constitutes part of the application contract and agrees to conform to all terms & conditions.
