casa-gran1“Casa Gran” is the name given to an estate which has been owned for many years by the Laso family. It is located near the town of Moixent, in the hills to the south-west of the city of Valencia, with an exceptional climate and terroir for making high quality wines. The estate was given a new lease of life in 2006 with the building of a brand new winery. Organic methods have been applied in the vineyards since 2005, so the 2008 vintage will be the first which may be certified as ‘organic’. Four wines are produced: Falcata Casa Gran from old vines of the traditional local varieties Monastrell and Garnacha Tintorera and Falcata Arenal from a single plot with a very unique terroir. The Reposo range are two wines, a red and a white, which are made from younger vines. Pago Casa Gran belongs to the leading group of ‘New Wave’ wines from south-west Spain which received very favourable reviews in Harpers in its June 2008 article “Taking a Step Out of the Comfort Zone”

If you would like to contact Mr Carlos Laso about his wines please do so through the Pago Casa Gran web site. If you would like to meet him and taste his wines within the contect of the Wine Pleasures Workshop then please complete an enrollment form.
